Many whales, dolphins, porpoises and other marine mammals strand along the coastline of Chile. Dead stranded animals provide a great opportunity to learn about the species involved in a way that is not possible when they are alive.
The southern parts of Chile are thinly populated so most strandings get missed or are not reported. Since informaton about strandings is really valuable we are always interested in receiving reports of any fresh or old stranded marine mammals. So if you find a stranded carcass on the beach, please contact us using the following form:
